Nilaqua has been collaborating with Celebrity Make-up Artist Abbie May over the past few months. We got in touch with her firstly because we love her work! And also because she and other make-up artists, have to have close contact with others in order to continue working and we knew Nilaqua would benefit Abbie immensely.
We are so happy for Abbie that her most recent job has been on the set of ITV's I'm a Celebrity Get me Out of Here, The Daily Drop. Hosted by Vick Hope. We sent Abbie and her glam squad a range of our brand new fragrances collection hand sanitiser and they love it! I'm so happy that our sanitiser is able to keep them protected whilst on set during the pandemic.

Most of us know the very basics about Germs: that there is bacteria which can cause infections, and viruses which cause different types of infections, but this pandemic has opened up our eyes into the world of germs in ways we never expected. Suddenly, we have had to get to grips on the spread of germs. And what is most prominent is that we've all discovered how truly easy it is for viruses to spread.
So how do Viruses Spread?
Viruses are unique to all pathogens because they need another living cell in order to multiply. They infect human, animal, plant, bacteria and fungi cells to thrive. Viruses can lie dormant until the perfect cell shows itself to the virus. Viruses only aim is to multiply and make more viruses.
It is good to minimise the chances of these viruses spreading as much as we can. So we believe that by reducing the quantity of bacteria on a surface, we are minimising the chances of viruses being able to spread.
How can we all reduce the amount of bacteria around our homes?
With a good quality surface cleaner, and Nilaqua has the one for you. Nilaqua Surface Spray has been tested to be effective against many viruses, fungi and bacteria, so not only are you reducing the amount of bacteria, you are also killing many viruses that may lie on your surfaces.
What makes Nilaqua Surface Spray so Good?
Nilaqua provides protection on surfaces for up to 30 days. Meaning germs which come into contact with your surfaces will continue to be killed for this time. However we would recommend cleaning your surfaces before this time is up due to daily wear and tear could remove the product before this time.
Our product is alcohol-free and does not contain harsh chemicals, which means the product is non-abrasive to many different surfaces. Also it is tested to be skin safe and suitable for Kitchen and Food prep areas. Although we do not recommend ingesting it, if you were to clean food preparation surfaces, fridges and your child's play area, you could be reassured that Nilaqua will not cause harm.
Over the course of the pandemic, there has been much debate over the efficacy of alcohol-free hand sanitisers. Even when it came to the WHO, they only recommended hand sanitiser over 70% alcohol, which has left many people confused about who to believe.
Once the official test became available, Nilaqua and many other alcohol-free hand sanitisers were tested to be effective against Coronaviruses but there are still critics of Benzalkonium Chloride and other alcohol-free hand sanitisers.
Brigham Young University in the United States, hypothesised that the CDC's distrust in alcohol-free sanitisers is because of a lack of research, and they decided to carry out a study to understand this better.
To carry out the study, they prepared samples of SARS-Cov-2, being part of the Coronaviruses family they all have similar structures. They then presented the samples with Benzalkonium Chloride and several other chemicals which are found in disinfectants.
They found that Benzalkonium Chloride managed to kill 99.9% of the virus in only 15 seconds! Making it just as effective, if not more effective.
Benzalkonium Chloride can be used in much lower concentrations and it does not cause as much damage to our skin. Which is a huge benefit for those who work in medical settings.
Hopefully this study will encourage change to government attitudes towards alcohol-free hand sanitisers, because alcohol-free sanitisers can help towards combatting this awful virus, and we need to utilise everything we can.
